Center of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB) and Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) Sign MoU

CCenter of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB), Mohali, (a national institute under Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India) and Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, signed an MoU for academic and research cooperation. The MoU was signed today at CIAB, Mohali by Prof. (Dr.) S.S. Gill, Vice-Chancellor, BFUHS and Dr. R.S. Sangwan, Chief Executive Officer, CIAB. The event was graced by Dr Parveen Bansal, Joint Director, University of Excellence, BFUHS, Virendra K Banerjee, Administrative Officer, CIAB and Faculty and other staff of CIAB. Dr. Gill and Dr. Bansal also interacted with research scholars of CIAB present at the function.


Speaking on the occasion, Dr. S.S. Gill and Dr. R.S. Sangwan said that the MoU would operationalize a joint journey in research and network of the two institutions for joint innovations and applications of knowledge particularly in research at the interface of Bioproducts, nutraceuticals, their quality and relevance in societal health. It would not only open the opportunities of facility sharing between the two organizations but also catalyze the complementation of expertise among the scientists of CIAB and the faculty of BFUHS.


The MoU covers broad areas of biological research including nutritional and phyto pharmaceutical disciplines. The MoU entails Ph.D. registration of eligible CIAB students at BFUHS and recognition of CIAB scientists as adjunct professors of BFUHS.


The expected outcome of this academic and research cooperation would catalyse higher scale of skill development and development of joint and networked research programs leading to tangible improvements in human resource development. It would be helpful in knowledge-driven innovations as well as translational gains for industrial applications of lab R&D outputs and leads at the two institutions.
